The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has to see that the consumers of the broadcasting and TV channels get their due service. The consumers who purchase dish TVs do not face frequent breakdowns but they miss the local news channel. This has forced many consumers to opt for the private service cable network just to get first-hand information of the local news that happens in Goa.
To their dismay the service is very poor, repeated calls to the sub-office of Bhima Riddhi Digital Services, one only get assurance for repair of the damage cables but nothing is done. Their attitude is the same as the BSNL officials. Many consumers from Siolim are facing the blackouts for the last five days. Till date no repairs to fix the faulty cables. I appeal to the TRAI to institute a toll free call number similar to the 198 wherein the consumer should be able to get a rebate for the number of days the broadcasting channel fails to attend to the repair.
Though, the channel operators are quick to disconnect the channels after the non-payment of the due date fees but are not ready to compensate the consumers for the non working of the cable channel. Why should the consumer be put into such hardship and daylight looting by such operators? Will the TRAI or the All Goa Cable Operators work to install a computerised complaint number to record the complaints of the consumers and any deficiency in service, the consumer will get a rebate.
