During recent years the streetlight fixtures along the Adpai Jetty in Ponda have been in a neglected condition. Some fixtures exist in wrong positions while some remain covered with branches of the adjoining trees. At times some are found missing from the electricity poles.
Recently, one fixture was noticed in a hanging position. Linesmen of the Electricity Department deputed at this location have failed to rectify the important defect till date. The ultimate sufferers in the process are the pedestrians and travellers proceeding along this jetty during the night.
I hope the higher officials at the Electricity Department in Ponda will take a note of this important matter and instruct the concerned maintenance staff to re-install the hanging fixtures in its correct original position so that it serves the basic purpose.
