MARGAO: Amidst rumours that Opposition Leader Digambar Kamat is planning to join the BJP, the Margao MLA is going door to door visiting his constituents in Margao sporting the Congress scarf around his neck.
Door-to-door visits in Sirvodem area of Margao constituency was taken up by the Opposition leader. He was assisted by local Councillor Manoj Masurkar and Councillors Doris Texeira, Deepa Shirodkar, ex-councillor Damodar Shirodkar, Margao Youth Congress President Ubed Khan, Suraj V Gad, Munna Thakker, Nevin Gomes, Seema Nilesh Nagvenkar, Jayshree Redker & others.
Kamat couldn’t be reached for his comments on the rumours that he is planning to join the BJP.
However, the BJP has communicated to its workers in Margao and South Goa that the talk of Kamat joining the party is just rumours.
Meanwhile, Kamat said on Sunday that there is a need for strengthening the existing infrastructure for the differently-abled.
He was addressing a gathering during a presentation of “Geet Ramayan” play by the special students of Lokvishwas Pratishthan which has several institutions in Goa.
He said that the question of improving the lives of the differently-abled won’t be answered by more schools but will improve by strengthening the existing schools, providing therapists for development of the students.
“There is a complex in Rajasthan where the differently-abled live in after the age of 40. This complex poses us a question on what happens to our special persons after their youth. I feel that the government has to think over this and there needs to be one voice for the betterment of the special persons of Goa,” Kamat said.
