Repair non-functioning fixtures at Adpai jetty

On various occasions, streetlight fixtures along the Adpai jetty in Ponda have been found non-functional during the night. Hence, the commuters travelling via Adpai ferry have been facing inconvenience.

The pedestrians tend to be the worst sufferers in the process, women walking their way from the Adpai jetty towards the main road face great risk due to the existing darkness from time to time.

As on Saturday, three fixtures were noticed non-functional. Further, one fixture was found missing from the electric pole.

Since the linesmen of Electricity Department work under the village panchayats, it is time for the Village Panchayats of Adpai-Durbhat to get the non-functioning fixtures repaired on urgent basis.

Proper illumination on the road must be assured at all costs. By the way, streetlight fixtures at the Durbhat Bazaar (also in Ponda) have been recently noticed in a functional condition as late as 2.30 pm in the afternoon. Perhaps, the same are not being switched off in the morning.

As a result, a considerable quantity of the much precious power supply gets wasted in the process. It is absolutely necessary that the available power supply is utilised in the best possible manner and not wasted at any instance.

Let us hope that the senior officials at the Electricity Department would take a note of the above two matters and do the needful at the earliest before the existing situation turns from bad to worse.
