The railings of the pedestrian bridge leading from the parking area across a creek to Colva beach have deteriorated and some have even fallen off, making the connector a death trap.
Children have fallen through the railings into the creek but due to sheer luck there have been no serious mishaps yet.
The whole set of balusters has to be replaced before a fatality occurs.
Colva is the most popular beach in South Goa with thousands of visitors every day; in fact, a structural audit of the bridge itself should be carried out to determine if it is safe for use.
The authorities should look into this on an urgent basis.
