The NH-17 at the slope from Bambolim to Merces was widened after an extensive hill cutting for a safe vehicle transit along the slope on the highway. What we find now is a dubious beautification project right in the middle of the highway which has drastically reduced the width of the road along the entire stretch on the slope.
It is evident that today even roads are not spared from commercial exploitation under the guise of beautification. This beatification project is ill planned with lack of foresight and amounts to political mischief of the government by sacrificing interests of the public and road safety. This beautification project needs to be immediately scrapped by the government and the highway needs to be restored to its original width keeping the safety of the public above all.
