SANGUEM: The customers of State Bank of India, Sanguem branch are put to untold hardship while availing banking service for no fault of theirs.
The customers are literally sore over the harassment meted out to them by the staff working at the bank even if they want to withdraw their own money deposited with the bank.
It is noted that as a precautionary measure for the staff working at the bank, the officials have banned entry for all customers inside the bank but instead are served through a single window leading to big queue outside the bank on regular basis.
While the staff working inside the bank wants to remain safe, there is no system in place to stop the customers from crowding near the window.
The bank has failed in deputing even a security guard outside the bank to direct the people to maintain social distancing particularly at times when Sanguem taluka has shown several positive cases of coronavirus in the recent times.
Incidentally, despite the harrowing experience the people face at the
Sanguem branch of SBI, the bank continue to enjoy an upper hand for the sole reason that most of the NRIs and those getting monthly pension from the government have their banking accounts with the branch.
The people from Sanguem have urged the higher authorities for some solace to the customers as at times people have to wait for long hours outside the bank for the banking transaction to complete.
