SANGUEM: The road to Selaulim Dam and botanical garden at Selaulim irrigation project via Dando has become a death trap due to the overgrown and bushes that seem to be encapsulating the main road and making it difficult for motorists to navigate.
And authorities have yet to take note and do the needful.
In fact, the road from Xelpem to Selaulim Dam, which is adorned with trees and large bushes on both the sides has become all the more treacherous and visitors to Selaulim Dam literally find the road dangerous to manoeuvre and has become tricky to drive due to poor visibility that is hampered by the overgrowth.
What makes it further perilous is the fact that the road from Xelpem to Selaulim Dam is full of curves and turns and it if often difficult to spot oncoming vehicles.
Incidentally, though the officers attached to the Selaulim Dam and the Selaulim water treatment plant use the road on a daily basis, no steps have been taken by the department to clear the road side bushes and cut the branches of overgrown trees that extend on the road.
The use of the road is made all the more dangerous during the night, in the absence of proper street lights all along the road.
