I had some work in the Directorate of Social Welfare office in Panjim and was shocked to see the building in such a dilapidated state.
From the wooden floor, one can see “a hell of water” dripping. The rain water has sip through the planks causing a great wide hole. Any person can fall, resulting in death. I met an officer, who was jovial and soft spoken.
When I asked the officer, if they only see to the welfare of others, promptly came the reply in Konkani “Kumarak xit randunk moddki na”, meaning “the potter has no mud pot to cook rice” as he has sold all for the good or benefit of others. What a paradox! But how utterly true! Will the concerned authorities kindly look into the matter before a death catastrophe?
Sorry state of affairs at Panjim Social Welfare office
