Stray cattle push vehicles to the edge of the road

The stray cattle squatting on the roads have by now become a common feature in the State. With no action coming from the authorities, these cattle have free access to the roads. These cattle either walk gingerly on the road or take a siesta.

In the process, they occupy the entire breadth of the road leaving very little space for the movement of traffic. The stray cattle menace on the roads has become a common sight outside the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim (as seen in the photograph). The traffic on this busy road is pushed to the edge and even onto the road shoulder. This can lead to accidents as the pedestrians walk by the side of the road.

An effective strategy needs to be put in place by the authorities in order to rid our roads of this menace which has been bugging the road users for far too long. Imagine not being able to have a smooth drive because of the stray cattle even after paying the road-tax.
