Transporting labourers on goods carriers: RTO, Traffic Cell must take a note

In Ponda, goods carrier vehicles have been noticed transporting labourers on regular basis. Such acts are common between 7 am and 9 am and these vehicles proceed along the internal roads such as Khadpabandh and Shantinagar in order to avoid the traffic police and Regional Transport Office (RTO) officials.

As a matter of fact, transporting people in goods carriers has been banned by law. Still the practice continues with great ease. On many occasions, the labourers are seen hanging at the backside of the concerned vehicles and it turns risky to their precious lives.

Seen in the picture is one such instance that was recently noticed along the Khadpabandh road. What is more ridiculous is that the said vehicle was halted exactly near the traffic signboard depicting ‘No Parking’ at this critical spot.

The RTO as also the Traffic Cell should take a note of this serious matter and arrange regular patrolling along the internal roads as well (more so between 7 am and 9 am) so that unjust acts like that of above are dealt with a firm hand.

Let us hope that the authorities would initiate prompt positive action in this important matter before any mishap occurs in the near future.

Since prevention is better than cure, let us hope that needful would be done at the earliest without any further delay.
