Upgrade Margao KTC bus depot

It has been more than a year since the visit of the Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) Chairman to the KTC Bus Stand at Margao with respect to its development.

The South Goa bus depot warrants a better structure than the present one which appears more like a cow shed. During the monsoons, cattle are found to be sharing the space with commuters.

Due to rain showers spraying from all directions, the commuters are found to be standing stiffly in dry spots, as though in an army parade.

Various sub-urban bus depots are found to be better designed than the Margao bus terminus. Take for example Cuncolim and Canacona in South Goa. Bicholim and Marcel in North Goa.

Margao, however, boasts of a state-of-the-art Konkan Railway Corporation train station, which is currently undergoing further development. To the credit of the planners of the Margao bus depot, they placed the toilet block separately from the main passenger zone.

It would be favourable to have a staggered development of the bus stand instead of a single massive unit as seen at Panjim Bus Stand. This makes sense from the security point as well as from decongesting the area.  The canteen and office blocks look dilapidated and require a facelift.

The KTC buses are found to be regular with efficient and courteous staff. Problems, if any, are more likely in the administration of KTC.
