The never ending construction work at the Western by-pass and Varca- Benaulim road junction is a prime accident zone. Exposed reinforcement bars, laterite debris, a mid road electric pole, lack of warning lights during the night etc will make this probably the most dangerous and accident prone area in Goa.
Already numerous small accidents have taken place here and there seems to be no supervisory/ regulatory authority overseeing the work. The road engineering is one of the worst we have seen in India with no proper curve or camber of the carriageways. This is a perfect example of how roads should not be built. Hope the PWD / Ministry of Road Transport and Highways wakes up in time to rectify matters before lives are lost.
