CALANGUTE: Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza has emphasised the importance of preserving Goa’s rich heritage for future generations and for tourists visiting the State.
He was addressing a large gathering at the five-day Saligao Heritage Festival which got underway at the Saligao football ground on Tuesday.
“Our forefathers have bestowed us with rich heritage which we should learn to cherish and preserve for our children and the next generation. We should also be proud to showcase our rich heritage to the tourists visiting Goa,” said D’Souza.
Others present at the inaugural function included Tourism Minister and Saligao MLA Dilip Parulekar, Curchorem MLA and GTDC Chairman Nilesh Cabral and Tourism Director Nikhil Dessai.
In his address, Parulekar said efforts were being made to showcase Goa’s rich heritage at the second edition of the Saligao Heritage Festival.
On the occasion, a number of Goans were felicitated by Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza and other dignitaries for their contributions in the field of literature, sports, social, medicine, education, drama and agriculture, as well as for preserving the rich heritage of Goa.
