MARGAO: Social activist Judith Almeida has said the Colva Civic and Consumer Forum would knock the doors of the Supreme Court against the High Court order granting stay on the sealing of Silver Sands hotel in Colva.
Expressing her unhappiness over the High Court order staying the sealing exercise, Judith said the Civic Forum would file an appeal in the Supreme Court against the High Court order. “The common man of Colva has been fighting against the hotel for discharge of the sewage and other waste. Does the common man enjoy no right to live a healthy life? Why should the people of Colva suffer because of the waste discharged by the hotels?” she demanded to know.
She also raised eyebrows over the slow pace with which the authorities went about sealing the erring hotels listed by the Goa State Pollution Control Board. “The authorities gave the hotels so much time making us believe whether the time was given to move the court and stay the entire exercise,” she wondered.
