VASCO: Civil Supplies Department in-charge from Mormugao held an inspection and issues notice to the Fair Price Shop owners from Mormugao to explain about the malpractice of black marketing of food grains.

The issue became the talk of the town after a Mormugao based NGO made a video viral. After this issue was highlighted by Herald, the civil supplies inspector took the initial action.
Speaking to Herald, Ramkrishna Salgaonkar, inspector of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Mormugao said that after this issue was highlighted in the local media, he conducted inspection and issued a notice to the shop owner asking for an explanation within 24 hours. “Further based on the reply of the Fair Price Shop owner the report will be prepared and will be forwarded to the higher officials for appropriate action in this matter. On Tuesday, the food grains sacks, which were taken on Monday was recovered back from the person,” said Salgaonkar.
When contacted Parshuram Sonurlekar, president of Goa First NGO stated that they feel that the civil supplies department in connivance with the fair price shops across Goa might be indulge in such malpractices. Therefore Goa First demands a strict action on the Fair Price Shop from Mormugao to set this as an example to deter people from doing such black marketing of essential commodities.
