Class IV student displays courage, saves three kids

SANKHALI: In a rare display of courage and bravery, Ankurkumar Sanjay Prasad, a Class IV student of Government Primary School, Cumbarjua, saved three children from meeting a watery grave in a river at Suruchebhat, Cumbarjua on Saturday.

According to sources, when the palanquin Shri Shantadurga Kumbharjuvekarin was at Suruchebhat, people were busy welcoming the Goddess and performing rituals. A few children smeared gulal on each other at the venue. Of these kids, Vijaykumar, Aryan and Mukesh visited the river to wash off the gulal, but slipped and fell into the river. As none of them knew how to swim, they cried for help but were noticed by Ankurkumar, who was riding a bicycle. Ankurkumar jumped into the river and rescued them. He performed chest compressions on Vijaykumar, who was admitted to GMC and later shifted to ICU. He is reported to be out of danger. On pg 5 >>
