PANJIM: The second term Goa Board exams of the academic year 2021-22 for Class XII students began, on Tuesday. The examination is being held in the physical mode by following all COVID protocols.

The Class XII students answered Accountancy, History and Physics papers on Tuesday. For Class X, only one paper in Data Processing for Children with Special Needs was held. The Class X public exam for all students will start from April 7, with the Mathematics level II paper. For the Class X exam, altogether 20,594 – 10,539 boys and 10,055 girls — students from 400 Secondary schools across Goa have registered.
While for Class XII exam 18,215 students – 8,937 boys and 9,278 girls from 106 Higher Secondary have registered. For this academic year, in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Goa Board had introduced a special scheme for Class X and XII wherein the academic year has been divided into two terms – the first ending in November-December and the second in April-May. The final percentage will be based on the marks obtained in the two end term exams taken by the students. In the previous years, Boards consisted of only one year end exam.
In an interaction with the media persons outside the examination halls, there were mixed reactions from parents and students with some of them expressing their nervousness while another section said they were confident of getting very good results.
“In a way it was good that there were offline classes before this as it helped with our preparations, answering mock papers and also getting our doubts cleared in person with our teachers,” said one student.
One common thread amongst parents was that the last two years were extremely stressful due to COVID and that they hope their children can score well despite the difficulties they faced during the pandemic.
