MARGAO: Residents of Sao Jose De Areal on Tuesday demanded the cleaning of the areas by removing the sewage flowing from the Ramnagari Cooperative Housing Society at the earliest.
Fredy Travaso, a resident of Sao Jose de Areal visited the office of the PWD official concerned and demanded immediate action.
Speaking to O Heraldo, he said that it is now the duty of the department concerned or the one, who offered his support to the housing society, to remove the sewage and clean the area.
It is pertinent to note that following complaints from the residents that sewage is flowing in the open areas from the housing society, PWD had issued water supply disconnection notices to nearly 195 households, which was later kept on hold twice.
Reacting on the issue, Travaso said that they have nothing to say on keeping on hold the notice pertaining to disconnection of water supply but at the same time it is the duty of the department concerned to clean the area by removing the sewage from the area.
“How come the action is not initiated despite issuing notice? Sewage continues to flow in the open area from the housing society,” he said. He said that let the department concerned clean the area or the one who is offering help to the housing society.
