Close Call: Tourist Vehicle Crashes into Anjuna School Wall, Holiday Prevents Disaster

A major tragedy was averted on Friday after a speeding Gujarat registered car crashed into the compound wall of Little Angels School in Anjuna at 7 am. The impact was such that the car overturned. However, 5 occupants in the car sustained minor injuries.

“The speed that these tourists are driving on village roads is so dangerous. The impact of the accident on our houses is terrible. I wish Chief Minister Pramod Savant looked into this. This is an everyday occurrence. Not once, ten times a day we see accidents around this place and because of this, the local people are the ones suffering. The tourists come here, have their fun and go causing damage and loss to our property,” said the principal

With the 26th of January being a public holiday, there were no students or staff present.

“I run a school. Imagine today if the children were there. Children are dropped off by their parents to school around 7 to 7:30. Imagine the plight of those children if the car had to hit them,” she added.
