CANACONA: The driver and cleaner of a vegetables carrying mini pick-up had a close shave with death as a speeding empty tipper truck hit their vehicle from behind seconds after they had alighted for answering nature’s call near Padi on Tuesday night.
Recounting the near encounter with death Farooq Mohammad, the cleaner of the ill-fated mini pick-up carrying vegetables from Haveri to Margao, said that they had stopped to answer nature’s call at about 10.30 pm on Tuesday near Padi.
“Just when I and driver Noor Ahamad got down from our vehicle the driver of a tipper truck unable to control his vehicle rammed our vehicle from behind,” the cleaner said.
The impact was so huge that our vehicle was thrust in to motion and stopped after it hit a tree almost 100 mts away.
All the vegetables got destroyed, while the vehicle was totally damaged in the incident.
