VASCO: The new Cortalim Market Complex was inaugurated by Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho in presence of local MLA Alina Saldanha. The market has been built at a cost of Rs 11.5 crore.
The Cortalim Market was planned by late Matanhy Saldanha when he was the local MLA. The market has now been completed after a lot of delay. The market has been built by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC).
The market consists of spaces for sale of fish, meat, grocery shops, vegetables and other day today needs of the people. The market has space for people who would like to sell their kitchen garden produce and also a space for people who want to sell fresh food products.
Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha has urged the people to take care of the market for the future. “We have taken care of all the people while planning this market,” Alina said.
Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho said that before the construction of the market, people used to sit on the roadsides and now they have rightful place to do their business.
