MARGAO: The duped investors of the Visionaries Co-operative Credit Society have been assured by the chief minister of filing an FIR against the promoters of the society by Friday. The investors have filed a complaint with the Economic Offences Cell regarding the attempts by the staff of the credit society to flee.
Two hundred and seventy duped investors met Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Thursday placing their demands for an FIR against the promoters. The chief minister reportedly assured the investors of facilitating the FIR against the promoters by Monday. The investors have been demanding an FIR against the heads of the credit society for quite some time now.
The new Administrator of the Society Maria Vanda Gomes said that the meeting was fruitful and the investors have now pinned their hopes on the chief minister for solving their issues.
“The assets of the society will be valued and put for liquidation. The proceeds from the liquidation will be proportionately paid off to the investors who have been duped,” Maria Vanda Gomes said.
All the branches of the society have stopped conducting the businesses. The Committee has been asked to take over of the charge of the society with assistance from the Assistant Registrar of Co-operative Societies.
“People are now frustrated and are hoping for a solution to the imbroglio,” Gomes said. Investments worth over Rs 44 crore are blocked in society.
The duped investors also met the Police Inspector of Economic Offences Cell, who has assured strict action once the main complaint reaches his office.
