PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has assured the Goa Legislative Assembly to rehabilitate a kiosk operator, running his business on the road near Primary Health Centre, Sanquelim, within 15 days even as the local administration is hearing a show cause notice issued on him.
“I am aware of the issue. I have asked the Chief Officer of the Sanquelim Municipal Council to rehabilitate the person. He will act. The illegal carts will be removed within 15 days,” he told the House in response to a Calling Attention Motion moved by senior Congress leader Pratapsingh Rane.
The Poriem MLA raised the issue of fear and apprehensions in the minds of the Sanquelim people owing to squatters on the roads near the PHC, which is causing danger to the life and creating a possibility of accidents.
He sought to know action government intends to take.
To this, Minister Milind Naik responded that the process of removal of the illegal carts, gaddas opening at the area was earlier removed numerous times as it caused inconvenience to the people.
He assured that in 15 days the matter will be cleared but Rane sought an urgent remedy. The CM then intervened informing the House about a matter pending before the Deputy Collector.
Earlier, the minister stated that a show cause notice to Mahadev Naik, residing opposite the PHC was issued in December 2019 asking to show cause within 15 days why the illegal kiosk should not be removed by the Council. In the notice, Naik was also warned of action as deemed fit.
