MARGAO: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has stated that Goan BPL families are better off compared to families from other countries and states, and if one were to look carefully, no family in Goa could actually be classified in the BPL.
He was speaking at the inauguration of Goa Saras at the SGPDA Ground, Margao, on Saturday. The event, which is being organized by the District Rural Development Agency, South Goa, will be held from January 16 – 27. Over 180 self-help groups and artisans from across India are expected to sell their products.
Cultural programmes, including dramas, will also organised by the self-help groups and other cultural organizations during the event.
Parsekar further stated that the government has decided to send a recommendation that spaces be kept for self-help groups to sell their products, which are mostly perishable.
When asked about the handicraft property at Fatorda, he said “I will check with the relevant department on the status of the property… to move forward.”
