CM calls for Verna units meet to solve issues

VASCO: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Thursday decided to call for a joint meeting of Verna Industries Association, Goa Industrial Development Corporation, Inspectorate of Factories and Boilers and concerned authorities to solve some issues and to facilitate the industries. 

Speaking to the media persons, the Chief Minister informed that various issues, which are faced by the Verna industries, are related to the IDC and Inspectorate of Factories and Boilers. Many times, some officials are seen expressing these issues.

The Chief Minister said that he will call for a special joint meeting coming Wednesday, which will be attended by the IDC, Inspectorate of Factories and Boilers officials and the concerned authorities. Whatever grievances the VIA is having will be solved with a permanent solution to it. Verna Industrial Estate is one of the major employment generators in the private sector; therefore, the government will try to give at least indirect benefits.

Further commenting on the online system, the Chief Minister said that in near future we will have to do certain things on the fast track basis as we live in the e-world. If there are problems then efforts will be made to clear them.

Meanwhile, MAIT Chief Nitin Kunkolienker said, “Atmanirbhar Bharat and Swayampurna Goa ideas, how do we achieve it? For this, the industries should not be troubled. The IDC has to understand that they are not the landlords and their job is not just to create plots and sell and their job is over. Their job is to see that the industries are facilitated in terms of development. 

He said, “The government needs to understand that the global order of industries is changing post COVID-19 pandemic. The world is getting organised in terms of new trade orders. Therefore, we have to be prepared and Goa cannot be isolated. ”

He disclosed that the discussion with the Chief Minister is to convey a very strong message that the people who are here, are to see that they get the best of support.
