PANJIM: Coming down heavily on the ruling coalition for propping up a string of corruption cases against some Congressmen, with the recent one being that against sitting MLA Chandrakant Kavalekar for amassing disproportionate wealth, Congress party accused Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar of fabricating cases to settle political scores.
The party also termed the investigation by Anti-Corruption Bureau against Kavalekar for amassing huge amount of wealth as ‘politically motivated complaint.’
At a press conference Wednesday, MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco alleged that the complaint was filed against Kavalekar by ACB Police Inspector Braz Menezes at the behest of his ‘political master’ Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
“The chief minister fabricates cases to file complaints (against Congress leaders)… It is to cause harassment. It (the case against Kavlekar) is a politically motivated complaint, it is a legal ‘ghotala’ (corruption),” he said.
The ACB, on Tuesday, booked Kavalekar for amassing huge amount of wealth through corrupt practices and for investing it in Kerala.
The party alleged that the Vigilance Department is being misused by the government to settle political scores and to harass Congress leaders.
“The vigilance department is being used for political purposes. The First Information Reports are filed after receiving directions from the chief minister,” Congress spokesman Sudip Tamhankar who also addressed the press conference, alleged, adding “Vigilance department has become a circus in which chief minister is the ring master and PI Braz Menezes … is a Joker.”
Meanwhile, the party leaders have demanded that government to shunt Chairman of Goa Meat Complex Lindon Monteiro out of his job, in connection with the alleged illegal slaughtering of animals in the public sector Meat Complex even as the matter was being heard in the High Court of Bombay at Goa.

PANJIM: From calling him a ‘U-turn’ chief minister, the Congress party has now accused Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar of being a story teller.
“Now Manohar Parrikar is into story telling…in the Assembly. He always replies on behalf of other ministers,” Congress spokesman Sudip Tamhankar told reporters.
“I will write to the prime minister to organise a story telling competition…He (chief minister) will definitely win an award. He will defeat Narendra Modi (Gujarat Chief Minister),” he argued, tongue in cheek, while at the same time alleging that Parrikar had set up an implant factory in Gujarat.
