CURCHOREM: Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem ranks third among the colleges in Goa after accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore, informed Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar. He was addressing the media during press conference held at Assolda Panchayat hall on Wednesday.
Congratulating the principal, staff and students for the achievements, he said the Quepem College is first government college to get the accreditation of NAAC with the score of 3.23.
“The NAAC Peer team has been highly appreciative of the overwhelming majority of girl students enrolled in the college. They highlighted the Centre for Research Tribal studies as an initiative to strengthen the College-Society interface. The college has produced an IAS officer, judge, advocates, chartered accountants, Goa Civil Services Officers, Law Enforcement Officers, and Researchers both in India and abroad,” Parsekar said. Giving credit to former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, he said that for the first time in 2002 when BJP government came to power in Goa, government institutions were taken care of which were neglected earlier.
“Now the expansion project of more than Rs 100 crore for five government colleges has been taken after BJP came to power again in 2012,” he added. “We are working with direction and dream to make Quepem College one of the best within next 20 years,” said Principal Bhasker Naik.
