VASCO: Stating that air traffic at Dabolim airport will increase within the next 10 years and will not be able to handle the increasing load, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar late Tuesday night reiterated the need to construct the Mopa airport, while also retaining the Dabolim airport.
Addressing a BJP booth meeting at Vasco, Parrikar requested the party workers to work towards the victory of BJP South Goa candidate Narendra Sawaikar and elect him with a huge margin.
“In the next 10 years, air traffic at Dabolim airport will increase and it will not be able to bear the load, due to which construction of Mopa airport is need of the hour. However, the Dabolim airport will be retained,” he stated.
“There are many bigger States like Bihar, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, etc, with large number of Lok Sabha seats to become the Prime Minister of the country, and two seats from Goa will not do much difference,” said Parrikar and hastened to add that the two seats from Goa will add to the number of BJP seats.
Sawaikar stated that development is his main issue and he will take up developmental projects by keeping in mind the common man.
“I will try and regularise the contract workers and will allot jobs to the Goan youth in companies like Goa Shipyard, MPT and other central government agencies,” he assured and also pitched for Mopa airport.
Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida said developmental projects like KTC bus stand; Vasco fish market and Vaddem Lake are in the pipeline.
