VASCO: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant helped two domestic tourists who met with a minor accident at Zuari Bridge, on Friday evening.
Dr Sawant was returning from New Delhi after meeting Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, when he noticed the accident at the bridge.
“He stopped his convoy and took the injured couple in his convoy to hospital,” eyewitnesses said.
Locals present at the spot said that this is for the first time that a chief minister stopped his convoy, got down and attended to a common person’s grievance.
Narrating the incident, eyewitnesses said that they noticed a convoy reaching towards bridge and suddenly it was stopped and Sawant got down from a car and rushed towards the injured lady who was just lying next to Zuari Bridge road. The CM asked her about her injury and also gave a slight check and enquired whether she can move her leg and whether she has pain.
Later, Sawant asked his officials to immediately take the injured woman in his convoy to the hospital.
Locals who had gathered at the site appreciated the chief minister for his humanitarian gesture towards a tourist.
