CM pleads with people to repose faith in BJP govt

Foundation stone laid for hospital & hostel at Mandur

PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Saturday appealed to the people to repose faith in the BJP-led government as it is committed towards fulfilling the promises made. 
“Have full faith in BJP government. We are committed towards people and will not let you down. We will always be there,” Parsekar said in the presence of Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza. 
The chief minister said that despite repeated attempts by the opposition to prove that the government was financially crippled, the government continued to undertake various development projects like new bridges, roads, educational institutions and health centers. “Even the social welfare schemes introduced by BJP government, now and earlier, are moving smoothly,” he said. 
Parsekar said that the government has spent nearly Rs 100 crore on construction of four new colleges in Pernem, Sanquelim, Khandola and Quepem while another Rs 60 crore on upgradation and maintenance of 150 primary schools.
He also spoke about the upgradation of community health centers at Vasco, Curchorem, Tuem and new hospital at Mandur. 
Parsekar was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony for a new hospital and hostel at Mandur. The existing structure, constructed in 1974 is to be demolished. 
Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) is building the new 20-bed hospital at a cost of Rs 21.19 crore. The project is expected to be completed by August 25, 2016.
The new hospital will house an administrative office, pharmacy, OPDs, immunization room, casualty, labour room, counseling room, seminar hall, minor OT, rest room and examination room. The total built up area is 9005 sq mtrs. 
The hostel for post graduate students will have 18 rooms with total occupancy of 36 students.
