DABOLIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday stated that the Grade Separator, which will be built at Dabolim airport, is world class and will be completed within eight months.
Parrikar was speaking after unveiling the plaque of the foundation stone of the Grade separator at Dabolim airport in the presence of Environment Minister Alina Saldanha, Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinha and Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida.
Speaking to media, Parrikar stated that the Grade Separator is world class and will be completed within eight months. “As per the earlier plan, the cost was Rs 75 crore and after modifying the plan, the present cost of the grade separator is Rs 41.80 crore,” informed Parrikar and added that he plans to inaugurate the grade separator on December 15, 2014.
“The Grade Separator will ease traffic movement towards Dabolim airport from Verna side as well as from Vasco and it will also ease traffic congestion at the Dabolim airport,” he said.
GSIDC Manager Dilip Joshi told Herald that though the completion period of the Grade Separator is one year, they are trying to complete the work within eight months. “The Grade separator consists of two flyovers, one towards Verna side and the other towards Vasco, and the total length of the alignment is 1,288 mtrs, out of which 617 mtrs is towards Verna and 699 mtrs towards Vasco,” Joshi added.
Joshi further said slip roads are also considered on Verna side for smooth cargo movement towards the airport and from Vasco side for separate exit/entry to the naval base.
Parrikar later unveiled the plaque of the foundations stones for the Joggers Park at Chicalim and Chicalim Panchayat Ghar.
Speaking to media, Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho said the Jogger’s Park will be of international standard and there will be rubberised pavers for the jogging track. “The jogger’s park will also consist of a play area for children, crèche, stage and greenery all around the park,” he added.
“As far as Chicalim Panchayat Ghar is concerned, it will house government offices, will have a computer hall, room for the village club, besides separate rooms for the sarpanch and the deputy sarpanch,” informed Godinho.
Earlier, Parrikar unveiled the plaque of the foundation stone of Cansaulim Primary Health Center, where Parrikar told media that the Primary Health Centre will cater to nine villages from Benaulim to Issorcim.
“Construction will be completed by March 2014 and I will not compromise on the quality of work,” he assured.
Alina Saldanha said the up-gradation of the health centre was the need of the hour as it caters to people of different strata from the nine villages.
