“The action is entirely against illegal hutments. They are demanding a rehabilitation package. But we can’t have rehabilitation only for these people. We will have to work out overall package for people across the State,” the chief minister said.
Parsekar also requested Deshpande not to politicise the issue as he said there are not only people of Karnataka staying in hutments but also from Maharashtra, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and even from Goa staying there.
Responding to the threat of evicting Goan IT professionals from Bangalore, Parsekar said Goans don’t live on the road in Bangalore or they have not encroached anywhere illegally. Parsekar requested the Karnataka minister not to make this Goa verses Karnataka issue.
