VASCO: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has directed the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes to send a detailed report on the controversial auctioning of an MMC flat.
It may be recalled that councillors during the council meeting on Wednesday ‘overruled’ a note from the chief minister recommending a re-tender in the auction of the MMC flat. When the matter was placed before the council, seven of the eight councillors, who had demanded a re-tendering of the auction, took a U-turn and demanded that the council should pass a resolution in favour of the next highest bidder, to which Fernandes had objected.
When contacted, Fernandes said the chief minister had directed him to send a detailed report on the auctioning process.
“As directed by the chief minister, I have submitted a detailed report on the auctioning process and even submitted the advertisement cutting along with the reports that appeared in Herald,” said Fernandes.
Fernandes further stated that in his report, he has also opined that the commercial flat at Kosambe building should be re-tendered for a fresh auction.
