PANJIM: Amidst hectic political activities over the leadership crisis, BJP’s alliance partner, Goa Forward Party (GFP) said they were never in favour of a leadership change but want Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to delegate powers to other ministers since he is indisposed and unavailable to public due to medical treatment.
“We have never stressed for leadership change. We are the ones who installed Manohar Parrikar as the Chief Minister and we are with him always,” GFP president Vijai Sardesai said.
Sardesai said that GFP is always with Parrikar and since he is indisposed, the administration is affected as he holds a number of portfolios. “If he delegates powers to the ministers, the people will get justice and those who talk about this breakdown of administration due to his illness will stop,” he added.
Parrikar, who is admitted to AIIMS in Delhi had called up Sardesai to discuss a particular administrative matter, in his first interaction with any of the minister since he was flown to the national capital last week.
Sardesai, the Town and Country Planning Minister in the Parrikar cabinet, had expressed his view before the BJP Central observers, during their visit, that there has to be a permanent solution, if any. “Yes, we have asked for a permanent solution. We have extended our support to Parrikar and will continue to be with him,” he stated.
There have been series of speculations on leadership change since Parrikar has been hospitalised. Sources reveal that BJP National president Amit Shah will announce party decision on the issue by this weekend.
