PANJIM: The first all-party delegation led by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar met Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh Wednesday and besought him to bestow special status on Goa.

Through a memorandum submitted to Dr Singh, the State argued that large-scale immigration and purchase of land by outsiders was diluting Goan identity and radically altering the demography and as such land prices had skyrocketed and local Goans were unable to afford a roof over their heads.
