CM to streamline and oversee cabinet colleagues’ functioning

To hold weekly meeting with ministers and corporation chairmen

PANJIM: In a bid to streamline and oversee the functioning of his cabinet colleagues, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has decided to hold weekly review meeting with Ministers and Corporations’ chairmen to take stalk of their works. 
The move apparently comes after media reported about ongoing rift between Minister for Information Jennifer Monserrate and chairman of Info Tech Corporation Nilkant Halarnkar, wherein the former is reportedly interfering in the Corporation work, bypassing the chairman. 
On Thursday, Sawant chaired a BJP legislative wing meeting at his official residence at Altinho. Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and Cumbharjua MLA Pandurang Madkaikar were not present for the meeting. 
It is learnt that Chief Minister, in a soft tone, has directed every legislature, including Ministers, to refrain from actions that could put government in wrong foot. He has also advised legislatures to maintain cordial relations for ensuring stability of the government. 
Speaking to media persons post meeting, Sawant said that it was a monthly review meeting to take stalk of developmental works constituency wise. “We also held discussion on party issues and government policies,” he said. 
He said the government will have to go ahead with a common agenda of development and public welfare. “We all will have to work together for development and progress of the State,” Sawant stated. 
Chief Minister said that he will hold weekly review meeting with each Minister as well Corporation chairmen to understand their departments and corporations. “I will try and meet at least one Minister every week. This will help me also to understand their departments and streamline it,” he stated.
