PANJIM: As the common man has to run from pillar-to-post to get their works cleared, the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant himself experienced bureaucratic delay in disposing off the files, which he had signed and cleared over a year back.

Speaking to media persons, Sawant flayed bureaucratic delay in clearing the files, pertaining to crucial proposals or works and said that the efficiency of the officers need to be improved.
Urging government officials to end the inordinate delay in disposing files and stop red tape complexities by speeding up the file movement, Sawant warned that such act will not be tolerated in future.
The Chief Minister was speaking while referring to the issue pertaining to salary hike of Ayush doctors from Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000. Sawant said that he had cleared the file in May 2020; however, the file was hovering from one department to another.
“Some government employees unnecessarily make files take rounds of departments. The issues related to temporary teachers as well as AYUSH doctors salaries have been pending due to this approach of government employees,” he said.
“I have already pulled up the officials and directed to issue order immediately,” Sawant said while adding that the AYUSH doctors will be paid Rs 50,000 per month with retrospective effect from April 1, 2020 i.e. the time Covid pandemic hit the State.
Meanwhile, the contract teachers under Goa Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan met the chief minister.
“Contract teachers are now happy over the solutions offered by the government to the demands raised by them. I have resolved issues of all teachers – lecture basic, contract, part time, para teachers, double part time etc,” claimed Sawant.
Government via an order dated October 29, hiked the monthly remuneration of the contract teachers from 16,000 to 22,000 last year and to Rs 25,000 from June, this year onwards.
