PANJIM: Inspector General Bhisham Sharma, Tatrakshak Medal, Commander Coast Guard Region West, made the maiden visit to Coast Guard District Headquarters Goa on December 14 and 15.
IG Sharma was received by Deputy Inspector General Arunabh Bose, Tatrakshak Medal, District Commander, Goa.
According to a statement from the Coast Guard, the visit signifies the importance placed on operational readiness, infrastructure development and the strategic role that Indian Coast Guard plays in safeguarding our maritime interests from the State.
During the two-day visit, the Regional Commanders held discussions with the senior officer and reviewed various operations and activities being carried out by the Coast Guard at Goa.
The discussions during briefing were centred around improving the operational readiness of the Coast Guard and enhancing its capabilities to respond to any emergencies and security threats in the AOR. He also reviewed the progress of CG PCV AND FPV being constructed at Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), Vasco.
Inspector General Sharma met the officers and Men of Indian Coast Guard and encouraged them to execute duties bestowed upon them with great acumen, professionalism and pride.
The Flag Officer also reviewed the ICG infrastructure development at Goa.
Anju Sharma, President Tatrashika (West) also visited Coast Guard Wives Welfare Centre at Tatrakshak Vihar, where she was received by Bhavana Bose, President Tatrakshika (Goa). She was briefed about the various programmes being conducted time to time for empowering women through varied educational/ vocational courses. Anju Sharma was also briefed about the outreach activities undertaken towards contribution to society by Goa Tatrakshika.
