MARGAO: The complainant in the Margao Municipal Chairperson Gonzaco Rebello’s illegal structure case has on Saturday, knocked on the doors of the District Collector, South and the Director of Municipal Administration to immediately execute the order to demolish the illegal structure.
In his petition, complainant Savio Dias pointed that even though MMC Chief Officer Naveen S L had passed an order to raze down the illegal structure, no steps have been initiated till date to execute the order.
He suspects that the authorities are deliberately delaying action against the illegal structure to facilitate the chairperson to approach the High Court and stay the demolition.
Dias contended that the delay in the demolition of the structure is delaying his plans to file a disqualification petition against the chairperson. “I fail to understand why the district Collector’s office which had denied me an inquiry into the illegal structure of the chairperson is now delaying the execution of the order by not providing police protection to the Margao Municipality to go ahead with the demolition,” Dias said.
Dias has also threatened to sit in dharna before the South Goa Collector demanding justice and attempts made to save the chairperson, who enjoys the BJP backing, through the backdoor.
