Hundreds of villagers from Colva, along with Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas and Navelim MLA Warren Alemao, gathered at the Colva Police Station on Monday to protest against the alleged actions of the Colva Police Inspector (PI).
The protest was triggered after the PI reportedly visited the Colva Church accompanied by a heavy police force, an act that residents claimed caused unrest and hurt public sentiments.
Protesters raised slogans and demanded a public apology from the PI, stating that the incident was unnecessary and disrespectful. They also sought the immediate transfer of the Colva PI, alleging misuse of authority.
Speaking at the protest, the MLAs expressed solidarity with the villagers and said such actions should not be repeated. They urged the authorities to take swift action to restore public confidence and ensure harmony in the area.
Police officials said the matter will be looked into, and further action will be taken as per procedure.
