Common procedure will apply for selection of candidates: BJP

Goa Desk In-Charge Ravi says people’s choices will be given due consideration

MARGAO: BJP National General Secretary and Goa desk in-charge C T Ravi on Saturday categorically said the common procedure will apply for the selection of candidates including the MLAs who have joined from the other parties. People’s choices will be given due consideration. 

Briefing the media persons, here, along with Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Babu Kavlekar, BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Vinay Tendulkar and General Secretary of BJP Adv Narendra Sawaikar, Ravi said the government has decided to erect mobile towers in every village and for which the Central government has allotted funds. 

When asked about the loyalty factor in choosing the candidates Ravi said, “People’s choice will be taken into consideration, besides the loyalty of the candidates towards the party.” 

“Once the MLAs joined the party they have become the part and parcel of BJP and hence the same procedure applies to them also. BJP is following the same rule and process to all, even at the national level,” he stated. 

He said, “Once the elections are declared the next process of choosing the candidate will commence and the Parliamentary Board will declare the names of candidates.” 

“All the party MLAs are doing good work in their respective constituencies, besides ministers. It is because of the good work BJP candidates have won the majority at the elections of local bodies,” he stated. 

Ravi said, “Working for the betterment of the people is one of the aims of the party, besides elections. Hence, elections are not only the aim of the BJP.”

When asked about the rising fuel prices he said that Goa’s model needs to be followed by other States of India. 

“Compared to other States the fuel prices in Goa are less and it is because of the reduction in taxes. However, fuel prices will surely come down once the international rate decreases,” he stated. 

He informed that the government has planned to set up an internet network towers in every village and the Central government has allotted funds for the project. 

State President Tanavade again clarified that one cannot do the self-declaration as the candidate for elections. 

“Process laid down by the party will be followed at every stage,” he stated.

Earlier, C T Ravi launched the e-book about the works done by the party at each constituency level. Later, he had a lengthy meeting with all the South Goa District Office-bearers of the party.
