Commuters heaved a huge sigh of relief as one lane of the Atal Setu was opened on Thursday. The single lane proceeding from Porvorim to Merces was opened. Those driving to South Goa can come down at Merces take the circle and move to South Goa while those coming to Panjim can also take a U-turn and do so.
With the opening of the single lane of the Atal Setu, the traffic situation on both the Mandovi bridges and the Merces Circle has eased. The second land of the Atal Setu from Panjim to Porvorim is still under repair.
