In his complaint to the officiating Director General of Police Jaspal Singh on Wednesday, Chodankar has enclosed photographs of a government event at Vasco that saw presence of several people, clearly indicating violation of Section 144 of CrPC.

“On May 27, CM, (minister) Mauvin Godinho, and MLAs Alina Saldanha and Joshua Peter De Souza, conducted inauguration of the grade separator/flyover, at Vasco Goa, which is formed by a 686m approach road towards Verna and a flyover on the Mangor area. For the said inauguration around 100 people were in presence and there was complete disobedience of instructions issued by Central and State Government in as much as no social distancing was maintained,” he said, citing complete breach of MHA guidelines.

“These said persons have committed offence of disobedience of orders issued by competent authorities, likely to result in spread of infection or disease, which is dangerous to life and have endangered life and safety of thousand innocent citizens,” he said, demanding strict action.

A delegation of the Opposition had earlier visited the Office of Collector (North) pointing at the violation of the law even as the event in Vasco is in the domain of South Collector.
