SANGUEM: Concerned citizens from Sanguem, who have been complaining against the illegal constructions on government land at Cotarli, have submitted a fresh complaint to the Director of Panchayats on Friday requesting immediate action in the matter.
The concerned have threatened that if the authorities fail to act against the illegal constructions, they would encourage the locals to undertake illegal constructions on government lands.
The complainants Santano Rodrigues and Constancio Mascarenhas informed that it is over a year since they first wrote to Uguem Panchayat demanding action against the mushrooming illegal constructions on government land at Cotarli.
As the panchayat, whose members, the complainants allege, have received favours from those who have built structures on government land, failed to action in the matter, the concerned citizens dashed off a complaint to the BDO at Sanguem and also to the Director of Panchayat for immediate action in the matter.
However, except for site inspection nothing concrete has come about thereby giving the persons involved in the illegal acts an upper hand in the matter.
The complainants allege that the area being quite interior, one cannot ascertain the activities being conducted at these illegally constructed houses. The concerned citizens suspect that illegal activities are being conducted in the area.
The concerned citizens claim that the persons involved in the illegal constructions are outsiders.
The complainant have now once again appealed to the authorities for action in the matter before the situation goes out of control and more constructions come up in the area.
