PANJIM: Objecting to the arrest of its MLA Raghav Chadha outside Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s house, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress of being hand in glove in corruption and supporting those who indulge in it.
It may be recalled that Chadha had sought permission to hold a demonstration before the residence of Shah and Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal which was however denied. On Sunday morning when he went to Shah’s residence he was arrested.
AAP Goa convener Rahul Mhambre expressed surprise that the Congress is totally silent on the nearly Rs 2,500 crore scam in the funds of the New Delhi Municipal Corporation which is controlled by the BJP and which today cannot even afford to pay its staff including the sweepers, nurses and doctors.
“It is indeed a shoddy state of affairs that the Delhi Municipal Corporation cannot pay its own staff and this is primarily due to the scam in funds which last year they covered up by diverting funds from one organisation to the other,” he alleged.
Accusing the BJP and Congress of being hand in glove in corruption, he claimed that it is evident even in Goa where the AAP is emerging as the true opposition to the ruling BJP.
“In the first place Congress despite having the largest number of MLAs allowed the BJP to form the government in Goa and later on freely gifted its MLAs to the BJP to stabilise its government,” he said.
Besides he pointed out that Goans are at war with the government projects of double tracking the railway lines and road widening to convert Goa into a coal hub. “Unfortunately, here too the alliance between the Congress and BJP is seen as it was the Congress that granted permissions for the project and the BJP is now completing it,” he charged.
He said it is high time the people of Goa see the ‘hand in glove’ politics of the BJP and the Congress and realise that AAP is the only alternative to ensure that Goa is ruled by and for Goans and stand by AAP in future.
