CANACONA: South Goa BJP candidate Narendra Sawaikar has assured Canacona BJP workers that if he is elected, all local issues of not only Canacona but also resumption of mining in the State will be resolved.
Sawaikar was responding to demands on various issues at the BJP booth meet at Ordhofond-Poinguinim on Sunday. He blamed Congress governments at the Centre and the then State governments for the mess.
Earlier, Loliem-Polem Sarpanch Bhushan Prabhugaonkar speaking on behalf of other sarpanchas present at the meet stated local residents are suffering because of non-finalisation of Regional Plan.
“TCP is sleeping over the files ever since the incident of Ruby Residency building collapse. Loliem-Polem village is just like other villages in the taluka, which is badly affected due to ‘setback’ issues as NH-17 road and Konkan Railway route passes through the village, CRZ setback, besides wildlife and buffer zone issues.”
Interestingly, highlighting Parrikar government’s achievements for the last 2 years, Sawaikar told BJP workers to ask the electorate to vote for Parrikar as an issuance of ‘receipt’ for giving them so many schemes and developments.
Sawaikar told the workers that the Central government fund of Rs 78 crore to organise Lusofonia Games had been made to disappear by previous Congress government. “Our Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar are wondering and still searching and trying to find out how and where this Rs 78 crore disappeared,” he remarked.
Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar was particularly aggressive on Congress, saying: “Congress figure has come down to single digit in the State, but lets wipe out Congress representation from Goa at Delhi by electing both BJP MPs.”
“Congress stature has been reduced to such a level that its leaders are at the BJP door to join and some have already joined BJP,” Tawadkar stated.
