PANJIM: All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Girish Chodankar on Sunday demanded that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar clarify the reason for making Mala Bridge one way.
After a brief inspection, Chodankar said, “The Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has to clarify the reason for making hurriedly inaugurated Mala Bridge one way. When the issue was raised about the alignment of the bridge due to which Mala side would become accident prone zone, I was ridiculed by Parrikar using Panjim Corporators.”
“His claim was justified by the government by making the new bridge one way which was built by spending crores of rupees. I see no other reason to make the bridge one way. This clearly vindicates my earlier stand,” he said.
He further said although the bridge is notified as one way, but it is observed that cars are still coming from Patto side posing huge risk of accidents at Mala side due to wrong alignment of the bridge.
