PANJIM: The Congress Party on Thursday filed a complaint against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade for allegedly violating the model code of conduct and demanded action against him.
In a complaint filed before North Goa District Collector and Returning Officer, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar said alleged that Tanavade has deliberately misinterpreted speech of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the use of word ‘Shakti’ out of context and incited hatred against Gandhi and Congress Party.

”On 17th March 2024, Rahul Gandhi, national leader of Indian National Congress, addressed a meeting at Shivaji Park in Mumbai. In this meeting, he referred to elements using all their might to destabilize the Congress and INDIA Block. He spoke about concentration of wealth of this country in the hands of a few and use of the might of the government through organisations like ED, CBI, IT etc to win away eminent leaders of Congress and other opposition parties,” Patkar said.
”In this context he used the word ‘Shakti’ to convey to the people of India that all opposition of India was united to fight the evil influence of the forces behind Narendra Modi and thereby unite the country. He used the words Shakti as highlighted in our scriptures to convey to the people that Shakti is an inherent power of our countrymen to overcome the evil forces at all times,” he said.
