MAPUSA: Opposition Leader Digambar Kamat acknowledged on Tuesday that the Congress had problem in selecting candidates for the Zilla polls.
Kamat also said that for the first time in the history, the Congress is contesting ZP election on party lines.

Speaking to media after attending the Siolim block level meeting of the Congress, Kamat said, “The Congress always contested election as opposition. This time out of 50, seats we are contesting 38 on party symbol and two are as Independents. However, in the remaining 10 seats, the party will decide whether to support any strong candidate to defeat BJP after having a discussion with party president.”
Acknowledging that there was problem with selection of candidates, Kamat said, “Most of our time was spent on deciding whether we should contest the election on party lines or not. Also the constituencies where we have winning candidates were reserved.”
He claimed that the people of Goa are unhappy with the BJP, but they appreciate the Congress decision to contest the polls on party lines.
